18 And Life on Skid Row tells the story of a boy who spent his childhood moving from Freeport, Bahamas to California and finally to Canada and who at the age of eight discovered the gift that would change his life. Throughout his career, Sebastian Bach has sold over twenty million records both as the lead singer of Skid Row and as a solo artist. He is particularly known for the hit singles I Remember You, Youth Gone Wild, & 18 & Life, and the albums Skid Row and Slave To The Grind, which became the first ever hard rock album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and landed him on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Bach then went on to become the first rock star to grace the Broadway stage, with starring roles in Jekyll & Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also appeared for seven seasons on the hit television show The Gilmore Girls.

In his memoir, Bach recounts lurid tales of excess and debauchery as he toured the world with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Soundgarden, Pantera, Nine Inch Nails and Guns N’ Roses. Filled with backstage photos from his own personal collection, 18 And Life on Skid Row is the story of hitting it big at a young age, and of a band that broke up in its prime.     Didn't know much about Mr. Bach just that he was in a rock band. I heard him promoting the book on the Jason Ellis show. I learned a lot! What a life! He should be proud of how far he has come! Great look on life for sure!

    If you are a fan of skid Row and Sebastian Bach, this is a very detailed and well written account of Sebastian's life. There are many funny moments, explanations of why he is no longer in the Skid Row and details about all of the trouble he's gotten into while being a famous rockstar. There are great stories about all of the famous bands he has toured with, his time on Broadway, and his relationship with people like Axl Rose and other famous people. You truly get an understanding of why Sebastian has done some of the crazy things he has done. He truly loves to sing, he truly loves to be on stage, he is one of the last of a dying breed, a true rockstar, he appears to be the same person on stage as he is behind the scenes.

    The book is really more a collection of stories-- the chronology follows only generally beginning to end. Lots of other 80s bands in the mix, making it very interesting for this 80s girl (Metallica, Bon Jovi, Crue, Guns & Roses... Could I sense that maybe there was another side to some of the stories? Yes. Would the other side leave Sebastian looking less innocent than his own version? Possibly. Still, I bought the book because I like Sebastian Bach. Whether the stories are ego0driven or not, it's still very cool to read about his antics from his own personal perspective. Loved it.
